i’ve got the blues.
my friends may think i have a problem, but i think my jean obsession is completely healthy. whilst out shopping on Newbury with my friends, i’d probably sneak by a purchase of new jeans. soon they would find out and give me crap about it. i’d get the worst when i get a new jean shirt. “you don’t need another wash,” they’d say…even though they are probably right, i absolutely NEED it.
currently i have 12 (2 of which were bought about an hour ago) pairs of jeans and 6 denim shirts. i’ve got the blues.

smells a lot like fall.
the leaves are falling. the temperature is dropping. this only means one thing: slowly store those shorts for next summer. i have yet to finish my back-to-school shopping but my next trip will undoubtedly be at Zara. with their wide selection of knitwear, coats, trousers, jeans, and shirts, Zara is definitely on top of my list for fall fashion. above are just pictures (via their website) of some outfits that caught my eye. smells a lot like fall.

back-to-school

last friday i stumbled upon a recently opened store at the end of Newbury Street, an infamous street lined with hundreds shops and restaurants, in Boston, MA. although i was headed for some coffee from Starbucks, i decided to retrace my steps back a few and braved the somewhat intimidating setup of this Amsterdam-based fashion store. the brand is simple yet absolutely eye-catching. above is a picture of the t-shirt i will be wearing tomorrow for my first day back in school. since it is still summer and weather has not gotten any better, humid and all, i decided to go with a lightweight tee with a simple graphic design. i will finish the outfit with a classic pair of black jeans, like the one above, and some lite grey suede chukka boots from Timberland.

goodnight.
and have a great first day to those who will be back at school as well.
i wish you the best of luck.

stay fashionable, you guys.

something ‘bout ties.

it’s almost that time of year again. or for some of you, you may have already began your new year of complete torture. back to school. it’s something we all dread. but one thing i always look forward to is back-to-school shopping. whether for new books and school supplies or new things for the new apartment, it is always fun to get new stuff.

next week, pray for me, i will be starting my junior year in college. i am definitely terrified in so many levels about beginning what will probably be the hardest year. but something to get my mind off of all the studying i will be doing…is back-to-school shopping. for clothes, that is.

i have noticed that i seem to change, not on purpose, my style every semester. i do not why, but i just do. maybe it is because styles and trends continuously change many times within a year. it’s a very expensive change but thank goodness i’ve got a job.

forget the casual and tiring days; this semester, i will try to clean up my style a little bit more and bring back what i’ve learned to do every day in high school: tying a tie. i think it’s important, since i’m older and i attend a very professional health science university, that i prep-up my day-to-day school outfits.

do not be afraid of the print.
now that we have conquered bright colors, we might as well give in to the rising popularity of print. many guys are definitely cautious about any design that is far from subtle and slick. but first, we must understand the lines drawn between ridiculous and “just right”. we have accepted the Polka dot, the Paisley, and the Leopard (i still don’t know why); now we must consider other prints that have been taking the spotlight, especially this summer: the Floral and the Aztec. when worn correctly, in just the right amount, these prints can really personalize an outfit.
be brave. be print. do not be afraid of the print.

style saturday.
lately, i have been really into tees. whether it’s a pocket tee, a graphic (or printed) tee or a plain v- or crew-neck, there is a lot you can do with this versatile article of clothing. you can either keep it simple and have the tee as your central point of style or build your whole outfit around the tee. pair it with your favorite pair of jeans or chinos, layer it with a shirt or a cardigan, or “dapper-it-up” with some vintage suspenders or a classic hat. i think a lot of guys, when it comes to trying to be fashion-forward and trendy, overlook the tee and spend most of their money catching up on the latest trends with ultimate designer brands.
keep it simple. and make it easy for yourself. buy some tees.

fashion inspirations of the week.
since the heat wave in boston had died down for the past week or so, i was able to wear something other than shorts. the weather had been kind enough for me to don chinos, shirts and even a cardigan.
above are some photos (via Pinterest) that inspired me to ransack through my closet and pick out outfits that i could wear not only to work but also to public outings with my friends.
1) light chinos topped with a simple, washed navy shirt.
2) jeans, printed socks and brown desert chukkas.
3) the classic baseball tee with a heather-ed touch.
4) dark jeans accompanied by dark brown suede shoes.
5) dark navy cardigan with a shirt and sweater under. fashion inspirations of the week.
